本種はこれまで福岡県と栃木県からのみ得られているが広く分布しているものと思われる。福岡県ではクリの花のフォギングで採集されているが、生態の詳細は不明。本種はDesmidothrips属の一種として記載されたが、その後Desmidothrips属は本属のシノニムとされた。

This species has hitherto been known from Fukuoka in Kyushu and Tochigi in Honshu, but probably it is widspread in Japan. It was collected from the flower of Castanea crenata by fogging in Fukuoka, but there is no information about their biology. It was described as a member of the genus Desmidothrips Mound but now this genus is synonym of Aduncothrips.
